Advantages of Planned Giving

Members of Water4’s Legacy Circle have made an important commitment to the long-term mission of eradicating the water crisis and have given Water4 the opportunity to be a part of their lasting legacy.

Gifts left to Water4 in supporters’ estates make a tremendous impact on the mission. But, many may not know there are other ways to contribute to Water4 this year while avoiding tax burdens brought on by the required minimum distributions (RMDs) that come with IRAs.

Thanks to a law passed six years ago, Americans above the age of 70 years and 6 months are permanently able to make gifts from their IRA to charity, avoiding federal income taxes while satisfying their RMDs, which must be taken annually. The qualified charitable distributions can satisfy all or part of the amount of one’s minimum distribution from their IRA.

This presents an incredible opportunity for donors to increase their level of commitment to the missional organizations that are close to their heart, and can be made to one or more charities. Our hope is that donors will consider investing in Water4’s mission through a gift using all or part of their RMD this holiday season.

For questions about making a gift through your RMD, will, or trust, or to let Water4 know of your plans to include us in your estate, please contact Natalie York, CFRE, Relationships & Stewardship Officer at 405-551-8214 or legacy@water4.org.

Your gift will be unrestricted unless directed for a specific purpose by a separate gift agreement.

If you name Water4 as a beneficiary in your will or estate plan, please share your thoughtful intentions with us. This will allow us to show our sincere appreciation for your generosity, invite you to participate in the Water4 Legacy Circle, and include your support in planning for Water4’s future.
