Position Summary:
The Development and Marketing Intern position will experience a variety of roles within the Water4 Development and Marketing departments. Intern will work with the Relationships Coordinator and Director of Corporate and Community Partnerships, but will report directly to the Relationships Coordinator. This position will allow the intern to have opportunities to learn about fundraising techniques and best practices from experienced Development professionals, learn lead generation and internal communication software, learn organization skills, experience large-scale event planning, participate in donor tours, and spend time with leaders within Water4 to grow their own leadership skills.

Development:
- Donor cultivation and stewardship: make calls and write thank you notes to donors, identifying and sharing any new ideas or opportunities with the Development Team..
- Intern will call donors with a “giving anniversary” to say thank you and check in.
- Draft and design Water4 related materials for schools and children’s activities such as:
- Coloring sheets
- Activity sheets
- Crossword puzzles
- VBS Materials (Games, Crafts, etc.)
- Attend Development Team meetings.
- Execute a full t-shirt inventory of all current and past Water4 t-shirts.
- Package 20 shirts of varying sizes in bags for classroom tours, high schools, etc.
- Execute a full bottle/coffee mug inventory.
- Box up and label bottles for easy distribution.
- Develop a new inventory system for Water4.Â
- When appropriate, intern will attend in person meetings and tours with donors.
- Perform prospect research for different donor groups, including foundations and individuals.
- Perform research for conferences Water4 should attend, opportunities to publish our writings, and opportunities to present our work.
- Perform duties as assigned by Relationships Coordinator and Director of Corporate and Community Partnerships.
Walk4Water4:
- Attend a Walk4Water4 Committee Meeting.
- Assist with Walk4Water4Â kids area preparations.
- Call past participants to extend a personal invite to Walk4Water4 2023.
- Attend all planning meetings and events (schedule permitting)
- Perform duties as assigned by Relationships Coordinator and Director of Corporate and Community Partnerships.
Other:
- If schedule allows, intern will attend all staff calls.
- If schedule allows, intern will attend a virtual Water4 Network Meeting with international business partners from 5 African countries.
- Attend a meeting with each department lead at Water4 to learn about our mission and operations.Â
- Often, our interns end their time at Water4 with a 1:1 with Water4 CEO, Matt Hangen.Â
- Based on the interest of the intern, we will give you some time with the Marketing team to work on projects in that department and learn from them.
- Perform tasks as assigned by the Development and Marketing team.

Technology Requirement:
Intern must have their own laptop for use. They will receive logins to Water4’s Google suite and Asana task management software.
Rate of pay:
This is unpaid internship. Intern may be asked to drive their personal vehicle to and from Water4 for local events. Water4 will reimburse the intern for all mileage.
Location:
Intern will work in the office Tuesday and Thursday and from home on Wednesday. Some exceptions to this schedule may occur during the course of the internship.
Hours per week:
10-20. Some hours will be done from home.

Start and end date are flexible based on a potential intern’s schedule.
