Building strong businesses & families in Peru

One of the many ways Water4 supports our partners in their journey toward self-sufficiency is by offering Biblical Financial Stewardship training to help them discover how to better manage their personal and enterprise finances in God honoring ways.

Peru Training

Last month, Water4 Business & Financial Stewardship Managers, John and Mary Beth Flippen traveled to Iquitos, Peru and hosted a week-long financial stewardship workshop for our Peruvian partner, Water Access Peru. Members of the Water Access Peru team were offered the opportunity to invite their spouses to attend this training, as well, and every spouse accepted the invitation. This approach proved invaluable as the couples completed thorough detailed budgets, spending plans, savings plans, and get out of debt plans.

Here are some of our favorite participant quotes and pictures from the workshop:

“I now know why I cannot get ahead. There are many monthly expenses that I forgot to account for in my budget!”
-Pastor T

“My husband is a changed man after the workshop. He got up early the next morning and started reading his Bible then we did a devotion together. He has never done that before!”
-Gabriella

“Hey Guys, we have to start drilling earlier in the day, so we can complete more wells … This will increase our income.”
-Keny

As the training ended, all of the participants were asked to consider the question, “What might the Holy Spirit be telling me to do because of this training?”

We can’t wait to see how they continue to answer that question in 2019 and beyond, and as they do, we’re confident the God honoring financial and management principles they learned will pay dividends in Peru for years to come.
